About the role
------------------
Are you an experienced systems developer with a passion for data management and process improvement? We are seeking a Student Data Officer and Systems Developer to join the Department of Bioengineering on a 12\-month maternity cover contract. In this varied and rewarding role, you will play a key part in supporting the student journey by developing and maintaining systems, improving data processes, and ensuring the integrity of student and programme information across our taught and research programmes.
What you would be doing
---------------------------
As Student Data Officer and Systems Developer, you will work closely with colleagues across the Student Office, academic staff and central university teams to support and enhance the systems that underpin our educational activities.
You will:
- Design, develop and maintain bespoke software applications, databases and workflows that support teaching administration and the student lifecycle.
+ Support and maintain departmental systems, including SharePoint, PowerApps and Power Automate workflows.
+ Ensure the accuracy, security and integrity of student and programme data, maintaining appropriate documentation, backups and governance processes.
+ Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline administrative workflows.
+ Collaborate with central university teams, including Registry and ICT, to support the integration and development of systems.
+ Provide guidance and training to colleagues on data management, reporting and system usage.
+ Support key annual academic processes, including assessment and examination board activities, student records management and accreditation reporting.
What we are looking for

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled individual who enjoys solving problems and improving processes through technology.
You should have:
- A degree\-level qualification or equivalent relevant professional experience.
+ Experience managing and maintaining databases and data\-driven systems.
+ Excellent analytical and problem\-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of audiences.
+ The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
+ A collaborative approach and experience working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
+ A commitment to data quality, information security, best practice and continuous improvement.
Experience supporting SharePoint, PowerApps and Power Automate environments would be advantageous.
