Structural Design Engineer
Overview
OES Consulting are a local, friendly structural and civil engineering consultancy team, looking for a reliable and experienced structural engineer who can take ownership of projects, deal confidently with clients and deliver work to a high standard.
This role is suited to a safe pair of hands. Someone who is comfortable managing their own workload, making decisions and seeing projects through properly.
There is opportunity for progression, but it is not forced. It is there for those who want it.
The Role
You will lead the delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to construction.
You will work directly with clients, architects and contractors, providing clear, practical solutions that can be built efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structural design on residential and small to medium commercial projects
Take ownership of projects from concept through to construction
Prepare calculations, drawings and technical reports
Liaise directly with clients, architects and contractors
Provide practical, buildable engineering solutions
Review and check work where required
Support junior team members where appropriate
Contribute to improving delivery and internal processes
What We Are Looking For
Experience in UK structural engineering consultancy, particularly housing and low\-rise buildings
Strong understanding of structural behaviour and load paths
Ability to deliver clear, efficient designs without unnecessary complexity
Confident communicator who can deal directly with clients
Good awareness of construction methods and site constraints
Able to manage workload and take responsibility for delivery
Experience with Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, AutoCAD (and Revit is helpful, but not essential).
Chartered status is not required, but the right attitude towards professional development is important.
