The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Project Manager to join our team.

The Strategic Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering high\-impact initiatives across the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) portfolio. This position combines end\-to\-end project delivery, operational support, and asset optimisation, with a strong emphasis on improving plant performance and driving value across both new developments and existing sites.

The role requires leadership of complex infrastructure and turnaround projects, alongside close collaboration with operational teams to enhance efficiency, reliability, and output across the portfolio.

Duties

Your tasks will include, but not limited to the following:

Project Management – New Builds \& Site Development

  • Lead full lifecycle project management of project proposals at Evercreech.

  • Oversee priority developments, including Front end, reception hall, boiler changes, CHP changes and de\-grits.

  • Manage project timelines, budgets (CAPEX), and delivery milestones.

  • Coordinate engineering, design, procurement, and construction phases.

  • Manage contractors and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory, environmental, and health \& safety standards.
Turnaround of Distressed Assets
  • Take ownership of underperforming or newly acquired AD assets.

  • Conduct detailed operational, technical, and financial diagnostics.

  • Develop and execute turnaround strategies to restore plant performance and profitability.

  • Drive corrective actions across engineering, maintenance, and operational practices.

  • Collaborate cross\-functionally with finance, technical, and operations teams to implement recovery plans.
Operational Performance \& Portfolio Optimisation
  • Support operational teams in maximising plant output, uptime, and efficiency across the region but with particular focus on Malaby and Evercreech.

  • Identify and implement process improvements and cost optimisation initiatives.

  • Analyse plant performance data (feedstock, yield, downtime, etc.) to inform decision\-making.

  • Drive standardisation of best practices, processes, and reporting across sites.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement strategies and long\-term asset performance planning.
Area Management \& Site Leadership Support
  • Provide support across multiple sites, stepping into area\-level oversight when required.

  • Deliver on\-site operational support during critical periods or performance challenges.

  • Mentor and develop Site Managers, including targeted support for key sites (e.g., Evercreech).

  • Ensure consistency in operational standards, safety culture, and performance reporting.

  • Act as a bridge between project delivery and operational execution.
Requirements

Essential

  • Proven management experience within energy, infrastructure, waste management, or AD/biogas sectors.

  • Strong technical understanding of anaerobic digestion processes and plant operations.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects (CAPEX), including builds and upgrades.

  • Track record of turning around underperforming assets or operations.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Advanced analytical, problem\-solving, and decision\-making capability
Desirable
  • Experience operating in multi\-site or portfolio\-based environments.

  • Knowledge of UK environmental, permitting, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Engineering background (chemical, mechanical, or process engineering).
This is a full\-time position working 40 hours per week Monday – Friday.

Pay: £40,000\.00\-£60,000\.00 per year
