Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a diverse range of speech, language, and communication disorders across Children ages 11\- 16 This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives by providing specialised therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ speech, language, voice, and swallowing functions.
- Develop personalised treatment plans tailored to individual needs, goals, and medical backgrounds.
- Deliver evidence\-based therapy sessions using a variety of techniques and tools.
- Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust treatment strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, psychologists, and occupational therapists to ensure holistic care.
- Educate patients and their families about communication strategies and exercises to support ongoing development outside of therapy sessions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in speech therapy practices.
- Qualification as a recognised Speech and Language Therapist or equivalent qualification recognised within the UK healthcare system.
- Proven experience in speech therapy across different age groups is desirable but not essential for recent graduates with relevant placements.
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to speech, voice production, and swallowing mechanisms.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to communication disorders.
- Solid understanding of anatomy as it pertains to speech production and respiratory functions.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills to work effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role offers an enriching environment where you can utilise your specialised skills to improve patients’ quality of life through expert speech therapy interventions.
