Southend Foodbank - Warehouse Manager

Overview
Southend Foodbank is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee daily operations within our logistics and distribution centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing warehouse activities, ensuring efficient processes, and maintaining high standards of safety and organisation. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a vital community service by coordinating the receipt, storage, and dispatch of food supplies. The Warehouse Manager will play a key role in optimising warehouse performance through continuous improvement initiatives and effective team supervision.

Duties

• Oversee all warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and stock control using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems such as AS400\.


• Supervise warehouse staff, providing leadership, training, and performance management to ensure high levels of productivity and safety compliance.


• Manage transportation logistics, including liaising with third\-party logistics providers (3PL) and coordinating transportation management systems (TMS).


• Implement process improvements to optimise workflow, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency within the supply chain.


• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting related to profit \& loss, stock levels, and operational KPIs.


• Operate forklift trucks safely for the movement of goods around the warehouse.


• Maintain health and safety standards in accordance with legislation and organisational policies.


• Coordinate shipping \& receiving activities, ensuring timely dispatches and deliveries while managing relationships with suppliers and partners.


• Utilise continuous improvement methodologies to streamline warehouse processes and improve service delivery.

• Proven supervising experience within a warehouse or logistics environment.


• Strong understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and warehouse operations.


• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems such as AS400, and transportation management systems (TMS).


• Knowledge of 3PL operations and process optimisation techniques.


• Forklift certification with demonstrated forklift operation experience.


• Familiarity with shipping \& receiving procedures and inventory control practices.


• Ability to manage profit \& loss statements effectively.


• Excellent organisational skills with a focus on process improvement and continuous development initiatives.


• Previous experience working with warehouse management systems or similar software platforms is highly desirable.
