Job Description
We currently have a vacancy in our well\-established precision engineering company for a full\-time, skilled, and experienced SolidWorks Design Engineer.
Required Skills \& Experience
- SolidWorks: Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- 3D CAD: Ability to create accurate 1:1 3D models, assemblies, and full builds, including fixings and bought\-in parts.
- 2D CAD: Produce industry\-standard engineering drawings from 3D models.
- BOM: Generate detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), including fixings, fittings, and purchased components.
- File Generation: Export DXF, STL, STEP, and IGES files for CNC and laser cutting.
- DFM: Design for manufacture, optimising cost, machining, and material use.
- CAD Library Management: Maintain component libraries, version control, and CAD standards.
- Drawing Knowledge: Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Material Knowledge: Strong understanding of material grades, properties, and applications.
- Traceability: Maintain accurate document control and organised project records.
- Autonomous Working: Work independently to a high standard with minimal supervision.
- Time Management: Manage multiple projects, prioritise workload, and adapt to changing demands.
- User\-Focused Design: Detail\-oriented with a creative, problem\-solving approach.
- Problem\-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a positive, solution\-driven mindset.
- Innovation\-Driven: Continuously improve and develop new and existing designs.
- General IT \& Documentation: Proficient in MS Office; able to produce clear, professional documentation.
- OHL Industry Knowledge: Understanding of overhead line, plant and fleet, and power distribution sectors, and related equipment.
- Jigs \& Fixtures: Design work\-holding solutions for CNC and fabrication processes.
- Prototyping: Experience developing prototypes and test templates.
- Compliance Knowledge: Ensure adherence to UK/EU standards and regulations.

Salary
Approximately £35,000\.00 – £40,000\.00 per year (*rate is negotiable depending on experience*)
Overtime is paid at enhanced rates for hours worked above 40 per week.
