Job Role: Social Worker \- Family Assessment

Accountable to: Registered Manager and Deputy Manager

Location: Linby Lodge, Strelley

Hours of Employment: Full time – 40 hours per week, plus on call duties as required to meet the needs of the organisation.

Job Summary:

As social worker with experience in family assessments or child protection, you will have a key role in observing and evaluating parent and child interactions to identify any safeguarding concerns, or areas of need that inform care decision ensuring the safety of children and families. You will work directly with families modelling positive parenting and provide guidance. The role involves working alongside a lead social worker to assist in conducting comprehensive assessments, developing intervention plans, and working collaboratively with multi\-agency teams to achieve the best outcomes for children. This is a critical role that requires empathy, excellent communication, and strong analytical skills to support families through challenging circumstances.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide day to day leadership and for Family Practitioners and Support Workers within the residential family assessment Centre

· Provide supervision for staff

· Chair and attend multi agency meetings including strategy discussions

· Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and risks to children are identified assessed and managed effectively

· Provide leadership in responding to Child protection Concerns within the Centre

· Develop and implement evidence\-based and achievable intervention plans tailored to each family’s unique situation.

· Support Parenting Assessment Social Workers in planning and delivering high quality parenting assessments

· Help integrate observations from residential staff into formal assessment reports

· Work closely with children, parents, and carers to ensure their views are heard and reflected in assessments.

· Model and promote respectful, non\-judgemental engagement with families

· Collaborate with multi\-agency teams, including schools, healthcare providers, and law enforcement, to deliver coordinated support.

· Mentor less experienced residential staff

· Support staff in managing challenging behaviours and maintaining professional boundaries

· Ensure accurate, timely and high\-quality recording of all work with families

· Contribute to case conferences, reviews and court processes where required

· Actively participate in supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure best practices are followed.

· There may be occasions when you are required to conduct thorough family assessments to evaluate risks, needs, and protective factors for children and families. Whilst ensuring the child remains central in all assessments.

Qualifications:

· A degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England (or relevant regulatory body).

· Previous experience in family assessments or child protection is essential.

· Strong understanding of safeguarding policies, child protection legislation, and family law.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with children and families from diverse backgrounds.

· Ability to manage a complex and varied caseload, prioritising tasks effectively under pressure.

· Problem\-solving and crisis management abilities.

· Organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Cultural competence and sensitivity.
