Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Site Operations Supervisor to join our Sheffield branch.
This role is responsible for driving the operational, warehousing and logistics performance of the business in line with company strategy, objectives and targets. The successful candidate will oversee all Sheffield\-based warehouse activities, transport and delivery operations, quality control, safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role includes direct line management responsibility for all Sheffield operations staff, including Warehouse Operatives and Drivers, while also supporting operational efficiency and best practice across regional depots.
We are seeking a confident, motivated and approachable individual with previous experience in warehouse, logistics or operations leadership. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and organisational skills, the ability to lead by example, and the confidence to work in a fast\-paced environment both independently and as part of a wider team.
In this position, you will play a key role in the continued development of the branch and the efficient distribution of our full range of carpet and flooring products.
Key Responsibilities
Warehousing Operations
- Ensure all warehouse operations, including goods\-in, storage, stock control, order picking, cutting and drilling processes, are carried out safely, efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain high customer service levels by ensuring orders are processed and delivered on time and to expected standards.
- Oversee day\-to\-day warehouse operations and support ongoing development of warehouse personnel.
- Recruit, schedule, train, support and manage operational staff, including conducting relevant HR duties where required.
- Promote high levels of team morale, communication, accountability and adherence to company policies.
- Ensure warehouse stock is stored and handled in a way that minimises damage and maximises efficiency.
- Identify and implement improved warehouse processes, equipment, technologies and working practices to increase productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Investigate operational non\-conformances, identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Support the sharing and implementation of operational best practices across regional depots.
- Plan and manage logistics operations to maximise delivery fleet utilisation, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate delivery schedules and optimise the use of external couriers where appropriate.
- Oversee the day\-to\-day management and development of the logistics and driver teams.
- Maintain delivery fleet availability and operational standards, including maintenance scheduling and vehicle replacement planning.
- Monitor logistics performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate logistics issues and implement corrective actions to improve operational performance.
- Develop, implement and refine KPI reporting systems to measure warehouse and logistics performance across all sites.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing, logistics, health \& safety, quality and environmental performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO management systems, legal requirements and industry best practice.
- Maintain high standards of Health \& Safety across all operational activities.
- Ensure all operations staff receive appropriate statutory and developmental training.
- Monitor operational overheads and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost reduction.
- Assist with operational budgeting and cost control.
- Manage operational supplier relationships and relevant third\-party contracts.
- Review and approve operational invoices in a timely manner.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of company buildings, warehouse facilities and external operational areas.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Warehouse Supervisor, Team Leader, Logistics or Operations Management role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience working within warehouse, logistics or distribution environments.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
- Strong organisational and problem\-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast\-paced environment.
- Understanding of safe manual handling procedures and operational safety standards.
- Current Reach and Counterbalance Forklift Truck qualifications.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Full\-time, permanent position.
- Based at the Sheffield Head Office.
