JOB TITLE: Senior / Team Leader (TL)
REPORTING TO: Registered Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
As a senior team member, the Team Leader plays a vital role in delivering care and support services to individuals with emotional and challenging behaviours. This role focuses on enhancing the potential of individuals in accordance with ordinary life principles, ensuring a high standard of care and well\-being.
REQUIRED SKILLS \& ABILITIES:
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals with emotional and challenging behaviours and/or learning difficulties.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with young people, colleagues, families, managers, and other stakeholders.

CARE \& SUPPORT:
- Support the implementation of the organisation’s philosophies and policies.
- Ensure that each young person’s needs are effectively met through thorough assessment and care planning.
- Assist in reviewing and monitoring care plans and contribute to review reports.
- Support young people in their social, educational, and recreational activities in alignment with care plans.
- Act as a Key Worker for designated young people, overseeing specific care and support responsibilities, including medical needs and self\-advocacy.
- Encourage and facilitate young people’s decision\-making and promote choice and involvement.
- Ensure staff uphold the rights and dignity of young people.
- Implement and contribute to the development of strategies for managing challenging behaviours.
- Encourage and support young people in maintaining personal hygiene and a clean\-living environment.
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive records and effective communication with team members.
- Administer medication (following appropriate training) per company policies and respond to medical emergencies as required.
- Ensure young people’s personal belongings and clothing are well\-maintained.
- Promote best practices in the team in alignment with ordinary life principles and company policies.
- Uphold integrity in handling young people’s personal and financial affairs.
- Participate in staff and young people’s meetings as needed and maintain accurate records.
- Supervise and direct staff in the absence of the Managers, ensuring all duties are completed efficiently.
- Delegate tasks to Residential Child Care Workers and monitor their execution.
- Assist Senior Team Leaders in inducting unfamiliar staff members and providing in\-house training as required.
- Maintain professional competence and knowledge.
- Attend mandatory training sessions as required.
- Report any infectious illnesses or accidents involving young people, colleagues, or oneself to the Managers immediately.
- Ensure compliance with Thrive Residential Care’s Health \& Safety policies, including emergency and fire procedures.
- Report any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, or potential hazards to the Managers or Handyperson.
- Promote safe working practices throughout the organization.
- Assist in maintaining financial records in compliance with company policies.
- Contribute to service reviews and the continuous improvement of care standards.
- Perform administrative duties as required.
- Welcome visitors and provide assistance as needed.
- Uphold and promote the positive reputation of Thrive Residential Care.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with company policies on data protection.
- Notify the Managers promptly in case of an inability to report for duty.
- Ensure the security of all Thrive Residential Care properties.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures within specified timelines.
- Ensure all equipment is thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned.
