Pay: £16\.50 \- 18:00 per hour \- Sleep\-in payment£60 Flat rate per shift.
Harmony Oaks Care Ltd is looking for an experienced and committed Senior Residential Support Worker to join our team at Oaks Haven, our children's residential home in Hornchurch.
Oaks Haven provides a safe, nurturing and structured environment for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma and complex needs.
We are looking for someone who understands that residential childcare is about much more than supervision. It is about building trust, providing consistency, creating positive relationships and helping a young person feel safe, valued and able to progress.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will combine high\-quality direct care with responsibility for leading shifts and supporting the wider care team.
You will be expected to be a positive role model, provide clear direction to colleagues and help ensure that the home maintains consistently high standards of safeguarding, care and professional practice.
About the Role
You will work closely with the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and wider management team, taking responsibility for the effective running of shifts and supporting the day\-to\-day care of the young person.
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Leading shifts and providing clear direction and support to Residential Support Workers.
- Ensuring the young person receives safe, consistent and individualised care.
- Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with children and young people.
- Following and contributing to care plans, placement plans, risk assessments and behaviour\-support strategies.
- Using trauma\-informed, child\-centred and therapeutic approaches in your practice.
- Supporting young people with education, health, activities, family relationships, independence and community engagement.
- Undertaking meaningful key\-work sessions and direct\-work activities.
- Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents and changes in risk.
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of records, handovers, incident reports and other documentation.
- Supporting medication administration where trained, authorised and assessed as competent.
- Communicating effectively with social workers, families, education, health professionals and other agencies.
- Supporting new and existing staff and helping maintain high standards of practice across the team.
- Challenging poor or unsafe practice appropriately and escalating concerns when required.
- Supporting admissions, transitions, reviews, professional meetings and other aspects of the child's care.
- Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and positive home environment.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- At least two years of previous experience working in a children's residential home setting.
- Experience supporting children or young people with EBD, trauma, attachment difficulties or complex needs.
- Experience working at Senior Residential Support Worker, Shift Leader, Acting Senior or a similar level.
- Confidence leading a shift and providing direction to colleagues.
- Strong safeguarding awareness and an understanding of professional boundaries.
- The ability to remain calm, consistent and professional during challenging situations.
- Good understanding of risk management and behaviour support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Accurate and professional recording skills.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
- The ability to work positively as part of a team while taking responsibility for your own practice.
- A willingness to learn, develop and contribute to the continued development of Oaks Haven.
Qualifications \& Training
Applicants:
· Must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England) or an equivalent relevant qualification. Applicants who do not currently hold Level 3 must be willing and able to work towards and successfully complete the required qualification within the applicable regulatory timeframe.
· Must have relevant training and sound knowledge of safeguarding children, safeguarding procedures and good practice within children’s residential care.
· Must have relevant knowledge and training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), trauma\-informed practice, de\-escalation and supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

The rota will be arranged according to the needs of the service and the individual care arrangements of the child.
