Assistant Gym Manager

Job Description:

We are GLO (Goldex Ladies Only) and following the success of our gyms in Sidcup and Blackheath, we’re excited to be opening our third location in the heart of Hornchurch.

We’re looking for an energetic, motivated and experienced Assistant Gym Manager to support the Gym Manager in leading the team and overseeing the day\-to\-day running of the gym.

You’ll help motivate the team, deliver an exceptional member experience, maintain high standards and ensure the gym runs smoothly and efficiently.

Overview:
The ideal candidate will (not exhaustive):

• Oversee team members, including performance reviews; leave requests; welfare and return\-to\-work meetings (with support from HR and Multi\-Site Manager, as needed).


• Implement strategies from Multi\-Site Manager and uphold consistent service standards throughout all operating hours.


• Draft rotas for approval by Multi\-Site Manager. Ensure own rotation in the working month to oversee different staff and members.


• Ensure staff are fully trained (H\&S, first aid, procedures, software)


• Manage initial HR issues raised by team members.


• Ensure the gym remains clean and tidy at all times.


• Maintain full staff coverage during trading hours and coordinate with Multi\-Site Manager for absence cover.


• Support team development through training and experience sharing.


• Monitor studio classes and PT sessions for quality control.


• Assist with marketing, outreach, and fundraising \- lead by example in campaign execution.


• Complete required weekly/monthly safety checks (e.g., fire).

• At least 2 years managerial experience at a gym


• Level 3 Personal Training Qualification


• Level 2 Personal Exercise Qualification


• First Aid Qualification (desired)


• Ability to educate and motivate staff effectively


• Excellent communication skills
