Senior Project & Mechanical Design Furnace Engineer

Northern Combustion Systems Limited are looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughts\-person to take on a role as project engineer within a growing business. The position, ideal to build a career as a Mechanical Design Engineer working alongside a team of engineers in the design \& manufacture of a variety of furnaces and associated machinery, serving the process heating industry and supplying plant throughout the UK and overseas. You will use your design and drafting skills in the creation of initial design layouts, analysis and calculations, and manufacturing drawings.

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic individual who is degree qualified with a Master of Mechanical Engineer (Meng) and preferable but not necessary 5\+ years engineering design work experience to handle the following:

• You will be operating within an established contract team


• Arrangements and detailed mechanical drawings


• Steelwork fabrication drawings


• Assist engineering team with system design


• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and client specifications


• Balance design with regards to cost

Candidates need to be experienced in 3D SolidWorks \- Weldments

Ideally you will also have the following skills and experience:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Meticulous attention to detail


• Working with AutoCAD for 2D


• Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)


• Relevant technical design experience including: Site surveying an advantage, steelwork sizing, undertaking technical calculations and creation of bill of materials


• Use of industry drawing standards


• Technical writing, creation of electronic service manuals, spare parts lists and user manuals for our products


• Work well within a team with minimal supervision


• Willingness to learn and develop


• A full UK drivers’ licence as travel to client sites within the UK may be required
