Project & Mechanical Design Engineer and or Draughtsman

Northern Combustion Systems Limited are a leading furnace manufacturer looking to recruit a Project / Design Engineer and or Draughtsman within a growing company. The positions are to work alongside a team of engineers in the manufacture of a variety of furnaces and associated machinery serving the process heating industry in suppling plant throughout the UK and overseas. You will use your design and drafting skills in the creation of initial design layouts, analysis and calculations, and manufacturing drawings. We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic individuals who are preferably a degree qualified with a Bachelor or Master of Mechanical Engineer (BEng / Meng) and preferable 2\+ years engineering design work experience to handle the following:

• You will be operating within an established contract team


• Read and review arrangements and detailed mechanical drawings (Experienced use of SolidWorks is a must \& AutoCad would be an advantage)


• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and client specifications


• Balance design with regards to cost

Ideally you will have the following skills and experience:

• A minimum Mechanical Engineering qualification to HNC/HND level


• Ideally with 2\+ years of industry relevant work experience


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Meticulous attention to detail


• Demonstrable experience gained in a similar role


• Working with AutoCAD for 2D would be an advantage


• 3D design experience (Solid Works) is a must


• Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)


• Relevant technical design experience including: Site surveying and creation of bill of materials


• Technical writing, creation of electronic service manuals, spare parts lists and user manuals Risk Assessments, Method Statements


• Work well within a team and under own initiative


• Willingness to learn and develop


• A full UK drivers’ licence as travel to client sites anywhere in the UK may be required
