About the role:
We are seeking an experienced, technically strong qualified accountant to lead the delivery of Group external audit and the end\-to\-end production of Annual Report \& Accounts for a complex, multi\-entity organisation. This role also acts as a key compliance lead, ensuring timely and accurate regulatory and statutory reporting, while supporting finance projects across the Group.

Reporting to the Director of Group Financial Control, this role is responsible for leading the annual audit process, overseeing Group reporting activities, and managing the Group Reporting Manager.

The role is based in our Northampton office, although London based candidates will also be considered. We offer hybrid working, with three days per week in the office and two days from home, if required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of the Group external audit, acting as the primary contact for auditors

  • Oversee preparation and submission of audit deliverables and manage the audit timetable

  • Ensure accurate and timely production of statutory accounts (UK GAAP FRS102 and Housing SORP) across multiple entities

  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, controls and procedures

  • Oversee monthly financial statement reviews

  • Manage statutory and regulatory reporting (e.g. Regulator of Social Housing, Homes England, ONS)

  • Partner with Internal Audit, Legal and Company Secretarial teams to ensure robust governance and compliance

  • Monitor compliance calendar, risk and control register, and balance sheet reconciliation processes

  • Support wider finance stakeholders including Tax, FP\&A and Treasury

  • Contribute to finance projects and insurance\-related activities

  • Lead, coach and develop the Group Reporting team


About you
  • ACA or ACCA qualified with significant post\-qualification experience

  • Strong financial accounting and audit background, with experience delivering statutory reporting and Annual Reports

  • Proven experience managing audits and consolidations under UK GAAP (FRS102\)

  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and deliver in a fast\-paced environment

  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills

  • Experience leading and developing high\-performing teams

  • Advanced Excel skills and a proactive, solutions\-focused approach
