Sports Coach / Behaviour Mentor

  • Location: South East London

  • Salary: £105 - £120 per day, depending on experience

  • Contract: Full-time

We are seeking a dynamic Sports Coach / Behaviour Mentor to join our team at a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in South East London. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in sports coaching combined with experience in behaviour mentoring within a school setting.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive sports sessions that cater to the needs of students with SEMH.

  • Use sports as a medium to teach valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and discipline.

  • Act as a behaviour mentor, providing support and guidance to students, helping them manage their behaviour and emotions effectively.

  • Work closely with teaching staff to integrate physical education with overall student development plans.

  • Monitor and evaluate students' progress in both sports and behavioural aspects, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage students who may be resistant to traditional learning methods.

  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students, promoting healthy lifestyles and well-being.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Sports Coach, ideally within a school environment.

  • Experience working as a Behaviour Mentor or similar role, particularly in an SEMH setting.

  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building trust and rapport with students.

  • Ability to plan and deliver effective sports sessions that are adaptable to the needs of students with varying abilities.

  • A proactive and resilient approach to dealing with challenges.

  • Relevant qualifications in sports coaching, physical education, or related fields.
