Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tailored learning programmes to children with diverse needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners, supporting their academic and personal development through specialised teaching methods and behaviour management strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalised education plans in collaboration with colleagues, parents, and specialists.
- Deliver engaging lessons across a range of subjects including Functional skills Maths and English, Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) and some vocational subjects dependant on learner interest.
- Utilise specialised techniques to support communication and behavioural development.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment conducive to learning.
- Provide mentoring and tutoring to students requiring additional support.
- Monitor student progress through regular assessments and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievements and behaviour for reporting purposes.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Proven experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly ASD, ADHD and Trauma informed practice.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and teaching standards.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and behavioural challenges.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for lesson planning and record keeping.
- Passion for mentoring young people and supporting their social\-emotional development through guidance and tutoring.
