About Acero ConstructionAcero Construction provides workforce solutions and specialist construction services across major infrastructure, civil engineering and construction projects throughout the UK.As our business continues to grow, we are looking to recruit an experienced and proactive HSE Advisor to support the ongoing development of our health, safety and environmental performance across all divisions of the business.

About the Role

This is a hands\-on, site\-based role supporting our HSE \& Compliance Lead in maintaining and continually improving health, safety and environmental standards throughout the business.The primary focus of this role is undertaking regular HSE audits, inspections and workforce engagement activities across Acero's projects and operations, ensuring high standards are maintained, improvement opportunities are identified and corrective actions are followed through to completion.The successful candidate will regularly visit construction sites throughout the UK, working closely with operational teams, clients and the wider workforce to promote a positive and proactive safety culture.We are looking for someone with a strong construction background who enjoys being out on site, building relationships and driving continual improvement rather than being predominantly office based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular health, safety and environmental audits and inspections across projects throughout the UK.

  • Identify hazards, non\-conformances and opportunities for continual improvement.

  • Produce clear audit and inspection reports and ensure actions are followed through to close\-out.

  • Monitor compliance of both directly employed and supplied workforce personnel with company and client requirements.

  • Provide practical HSE advice and guidance to managers, supervisors and site operatives.

  • Build positive relationships with site teams and client representatives to promote safe working practices.

  • Support accident, incident, near\-miss and close\-call investigations.

  • Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Assist with the preparation, review and implementation of RAMS, safe systems of work and other HSE documentation.

  • Support the delivery of toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement initiatives.

  • Monitor compliance with company procedures, client requirements and relevant legislation.

  • Support internal and external audits, accreditation processes and management system compliance.

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.

  • Support the development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures and improvement plans.

  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, action trackers and performance data.

  • Work closely with operational teams to promote a positive, proactive and solutions\-focused safety culture.

  • Provide general support to the HSE \& Compliance Lead across all areas of the company's HSE function.
About YouEssential
  • Previous HSE experience within the construction industry.

  • Good practical understanding of construction site health and safety requirements.

  • Experience carrying out site inspections, audits or compliance reviews.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with operatives, supervisors, managers and clients.

  • Able to identify issues and provide practical, proportionate solutions.

  • Good report\-writing and administrative skills.

  • Self\-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Willing and able to travel regularly throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays when required.
Desirable
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or working towards achieving it.

  • TechIOSH membership or working towards professional membership.

  • Experience within ground engineering, piling, civils, steel fixing, welding or labour\-intensive construction environments.

  • Experience supporting accident and incident investigations.

  • Experience working within ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems.

  • Internal auditing experience.
