Position Summary
Greensville Trust is seeking an appropriately qualified and committed Qur’an and Islamic Studies Teacher to assist in the delivery of the existing provision of religious guidance, various Islamic studies programmes, and support the Imam at the Rawdah Mosque in Bradford.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Memorised Qur’an with a license to teach
- Fluency in Arabic, spoken and written
- Experience in teaching, or a willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification
- A demonstrable love for teaching the Qur'an and Islamic studies, and a willingness to share this with others
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with pupils, parents and colleagues
- A strong understanding of Islamic etiquette and manners, and the ability to model these consistently
Religious Leadership
- assist the existing Imam and other teachers on the various educational programmes;
- assist in weekly or seasonal religious services and activities \[which may include Ramadan and Eid];
- support the teachers on the various Qur'an and Islamic education programmes;
- assist in the provision of appropriate religious teaching and instruction for children;
- assisting with pastoral and community activities under the direction of the existing Imam;
- Plan, structure and teach assigned classes in line with the Trusts Madrasah programme of study
- Provide group\-based teaching and one\-to\-one learning support as needed
- Assess, monitor, record and report on pupils' learning needs, progress and achievements
- Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of individual pupils
- Make best use of available resources to support pupil attainment
- Deliver Qur'an, Hadith, Seerah and Fiqh lessons, and other Islamic topics that support pupils' spiritual growth
- Set high classroom standards that motivate and inspire pupils
- Complete pupil reports in line with Madrasah reporting guidelines
- Provide structured feedback to parents and carers on a quarterly basis
- Participate in community activities that promote positive interfaith and public relations for Islam and Muslims
- Play an active role in mosque open days and school engagement, proactively liaising with stakeholders
- Assist in the development and delivery educational and extracurricular programmes for young people
- Participate in ongoing training and development to improve teaching practice
- Engage actively with the Madrasah's monitoring and evaluation processes
- Create a safe environment for pupils built on mutual respect, with a clear and consistent structure for rewards and improvement
- Lead by example, demonstrating positive Islamic values, etiquette and behaviour at all times
- Develop strategies suited to individual classes that inspire, motivate and appropriately challenge pupils
- Build good relationships with pupils, exercising appropriate authority and acting decisively when necessary
- Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the Madrasah
- Maintain high expectations of pupils while motivating and inspiring them
- Model the values and behaviours of Greensville Trust and Rawdah at all times
- Conduct oneself in a dignified manner consistent with the teachings of Islam
- Ensure the health and safety of self and others is maintained at all times
- Follow safeguarding practices, policies and procedures at all times
