We are seeking a talented and creative Jewellery Designer who specialises in designing South Asian jewellery sets. The successful candidate will develop distinctive, high\-quality collections that celebrate traditional craftsmanship while reflecting contemporary trends and customer preferences.
This is a full\-time position working 37\.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Design complete South Asian jewellery sets, including necklaces, earrings, tikka, jhumar, bangles, rings and other coordinating pieces.
- Create designs for bridal, wedding, festive, occasion and contemporary collections.
- Produce detailed hand\-drawn sketches, technical drawings, specifications and digital design concepts.
- Research South Asian jewellery traditions, regional styles, materials, techniques and emerging market trends.
- Develop original designs inspired by styles such as Kundan, Polki, Meenakari, Jadau and temple jewellery.
- Select suitable metals, stones, beads, pearls, colours, finishes and embellishments.
- Work closely with craftspeople, manufacturers and suppliers to ensure designs are produced accurately and to the required quality.
- Review prototypes and samples, providing clear feedback and making necessary design adjustments.
- Ensure each piece within a set is balanced, coordinated, wearable and commercially viable.
- Design within agreed budgets, production timelines and pricing requirements.
- Maintain accurate design records, product specifications and material information.
- Support the development of bespoke pieces by interpreting customers' preferences, occasions and budgets.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing and photography teams when preparing collections for launches and campaigns.
- Maintain awareness of ethical sourcing, material quality and relevant jewellery safety standards.
- Proven experience in jewellery design, ideally specialising in South Asian, Asian bridal or occasion jewellery.
- Strong knowledge of South Asian jewellery styles, cultural influences and bridal traditions.
- Excellent drawing, design development and visual presentation skills.
- Understanding of jewellery construction, stone settings, metals, finishes and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to design coordinated sets with careful attention to proportion, symmetry, colour and detail.
- Experience using jewellery design, CAD or illustration software is desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage several designs and deadlines simultaneously.
- High standards of accuracy, creativity and quality control.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant South Asian jewellery designs.
Working Hours
37\.5 hours per week, with occasional flexibility required during busy periods, collection launches and customer appointments.
