We are looking for a QA Engineer

CONTEXT

In this role, you will join a Trading Systems team based in Porto, working in close collaboration with international teams supporting business\-critical trading applications.

You will contribute to quality assurance activities across functional validation, manual and automated testing, backend and API testing, defect management, and the continuous improvement of QA practices.

MAIN MISSION

To define and execute effective test strategies, ensuring the functional and technical quality of trading applications while providing clear visibility over test coverage, results, risks, and identified defects.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and execute comprehensive test strategies for standalone testing.


• Define test objectives, scope, acceptance criteria, and expected results.


• Identify and prioritise test scenarios based on risk and business impact.


• Validate application behaviour, business rules, and end\-to\-end functional flows.


• Execute manual and automated functional tests.


• Perform backend, API, database, regression, and release validation testing.


• Reproduce, analyse, document, and track defects throughout their lifecycle.


• Collaborate with developers and QA colleagues to investigate issues and validate fixes.


• Maintain complete testing documentation and ensure the traceability of QA activities.


• Produce structured reporting on progress, risks, test coverage, defects, and results.


• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of test automation.


• Use Linux, Jenkins, Git, Python, Shell scripting, and databases to support testing activities.


• Apply BDD principles and work with relevant test automation frameworks.


• Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, team leads, project managers, and QA professionals.


• Use AI tools to support test design, test case generation, defect analysis, documentation, reporting, automation development, and knowledge discovery.


• Validate AI\-generated outputs and apply appropriate professional judgement.


• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and quality\-focused delivery practices.


• Share knowledge and progressively support less experienced team members when appropriate.

• \+3 years of professional experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related technical role.


• Solid experience in functional and manual software testing.


• Knowledge of BDD methodologies and test automation frameworks.


• Experience contributing to automated testing activities.


• Strong functional understanding and ability to validate complex business processes.


• Ability to define test strategies, objectives, scope, and acceptance criteria.


• Ability to identify and prioritise tests according to risk and business impact.


• Experience reproducing, analysing, documenting, and tracking defects.


• Ability to provide clear and structured reporting on testing progress, risks, coverage, and results.


• Awareness of financial markets and trading activities.


• Previous experience with banking, brokerage, or financial systems.


• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to work with increasing autonomy in a structured delivery environment.


• Good communication and stakeholder\-management skills.


• Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
