About the role

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator will play a central role in coordinating the department’s day\-to\-day purchasing activities. The successful candidate will manage an allocated portfolio of suppliers and take ownership of project\-related purchasing requirements from initial request through to delivery and resolution.

The Coordinator will work closely with the Purchasing Manager, supporting supplier management, projects, reporting, and continuous process improvements. The role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

\-Manage the complete purchasing cycle for allocated suppliers, including quotations, POs, acknowledgements, delivery follow\-up, discrepancy resolution and record close\-out.

\-Coordinate daily purchasing priorities, open orders, shortages and supplier actions across the department.

\-Confirm specifications, quantities, pricing, project or job references, approvals and delivery requirements before ordering.

\-Manage complex and specialised requirements, including UK suppliers, steel, fabrication\-related services, powder coating, galvanising and fit\-out materials.

\-Obtain and compare quotations; assess price, lead time, availability, quality and suitability; negotiate within agreed authority.

\-Source alternative products or suppliers and escalate strategic supplier decisions, significant expenditure and major commercial negotiations to the Purchasing Manager.

\-Work closely with Project Managers, Production Managers, Factory Operations and suppliers to support project schedules and material availability.

\-Monitor supplier confirmations, lead times, shortages and overdue deliveries, keeping stakeholders informed and escalating risks promptly.

\-Coordinate and resolve material discrepancies with suppliers and Accounts.

\-Support the Purchasing Manager with major projects, administration, supplier reviews, reporting, cost analysis and process improvements.

\-Coordinate approved machinery service, spare\-part and facilities purchases while escalating contractual or strategic matters to the Purchasing Manager.

\-Provide accurate delivery information to Logistics; transport booking, scheduling and tracking remain with the Logistics function.

What we are looking for

\-Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply\-chain coordination or a similar operational role will be an advantage.

\-Strong organisational skills, accuracy and the ability to manage several priorities at the same time.

\-Commercial awareness and confidence obtaining quotations, comparing options and challenging discrepancies.

\-Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a practical and professional approach to follow\-up.

\-Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project, production, factory, logistics and accounts teams.

The Person

You will be proactive, able to think outside the box, and comfortable working both as part of a team and independently. You will be a strong problem\-solver, able to assess situations, find practical solutions, and take ownership of tasks from initial request through to completion. You will combine hands\-on purchasing with effective operational coordination, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritise and respond quickly when required. You will understand when to escalate matters to the Purchasing Manager and support the wider team, while always maintaining a strong focus on cost, quality, and delivery.

Pay: €35,000\.00\-€45,000\.00 per year
