Project Management Training Manager
About the role
We’re looking for a Project Management Training Manager to shape the future of project management across Balfour Beatty. In this highly impactful role, you’ll design and deliver a comprehensive capability framework that supports Project Managers at every stage of their career, from early talent through to senior leaders and aspiring Major Project Directors.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you’ll define what “great” looks like for project delivery capability, aligning development pathways to business priorities, professional standards and industry best practice. You’ll play a key role in strengthening our P3M community, ensuring our people are equipped to deliver complex projects with confidence, consistency and excellence.
The location for this role is UK flexible, with travel as required.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the design and delivery of a structured project management capability framework across all career stages
- Analyse business needs and translate capability gaps into targeted, scalable development solutions
- Deliver a blended learning approach, combining formal training, on\-the\-job development, coaching and peer learning
- Partner with senior leaders to define future skills, capability requirements and workforce priorities
- Align all development activity to recognised professional standards (e.g. APM) and explore accreditation opportunities
- Build and maintain clear career pathways and progression frameworks for Project Managers
- Act as a trusted advisor, influencing stakeholders to adopt impactful and proportionate learning solutions
- Use data and insight to measure effectiveness, track progress and demonstrate return on investment
- Manage programme governance, budgets and supplier relationships, ensuring effective delivery
- Foster strong stakeholder networks internally and externally, including industry bodies and communities of practice
- Proven experience in project management or a project delivery environment
- Background in designing and delivering learning or capability development programmes
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders in a complex, matrix organisation
- Skilled in learning design, facilitation and creating blended development solutions
- Data\-driven approach, with experience evaluating the impact of learning interventions
- Strong understanding of project management best practice and professional standards (APM preferred)
- Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to translate complex capability needs into practical, business\-focused solutions
- Experience managing programmes and priorities in a fast\-paced environment
