Production/Distribution & Packing Manager
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Production, Distribution \& Packing Manager to join our growing doughnut manufacturing facility in Sheffield. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing production operations, packing efficiency, stock control, and distribution activities to ensure products are delivered to customers on time and to the highest standards.
About the Role
The successful candidate will manage the day\-to\-day production process while also taking responsibility for packing operations, dispatch planning, and distribution logistics. The role requires a hands\-on manager who can drive efficiency, maintain quality standards, and lead teams across multiple operational areas.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
\* Lead and manage daily production operations to achieve output targets.
\* Ensure doughnuts are produced to specification, quality, and food safety standards.
\* Plan production schedules in line with customer orders and business requirements.
\* Monitor productivity, labour efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives.
Packing \& Warehouse Control
\* Oversee packing operations to ensure products are packed accurately and efficiently.
\* Manage packing teams and ensure production deadlines are met.
\* Monitor stock levels of packaging materials and coordinate replenishment.
\* Maintain accurate inventory and stock records.
Distribution \& Logistics
\* Coordinate daily dispatch and distribution schedules.
\* Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, and delivered accurately and on time.
\* Liaise with drivers, transport providers, and customers where required.
\* Monitor delivery performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Team Leadership \& Compliance
\* Recruit, train, and manage production and packing staff.
\* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
\* Lead continuous improvement initiatives across production and logistics operations.
\* Prepare operational reports and performance metrics for senior management.
Requirements
\* Proven experience in production management within food manufacturing, bakery production, or FMCG environments.
\* Experience managing packing, warehouse, or distribution operations.
\* Strong leadership and team management skills.
\* Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
\* Good understanding of stock control, logistics, and production scheduling.
\* Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and health and safety regulations.
\* Strong problem\-solving and decision\-making capabilities.
Desirable
\* Experience in bakery or doughnut manufacturing.
\* Food Safety and HACCP qualifications.
\* Experience with warehouse management, ERP, or production planning systems.
\* Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
