About Courtyard Health Clinic

Courtyard Health Clinic is a growing independent private medical clinic based at Eskmills in Musselburgh. We operate a membership model: our patients are members of the clinic, and we look after them properly. That means 30 minute appointments as standard, genuine continuity with their own GP, and full administrative support from our medical concierge team, who handle bookings, referrals, results chasing and the paperwork that usually eats into clinical time.

Alongside private GP consultations we provide comprehensive health assessments, preventative medicine, diagnostics and a developing range of specialist clinical services for our members. Our aim is straightforward: excellent medicine, delivered in an environment where clinicians have the time to listen, think carefully and provide genuinely individualised care.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting experienced GPs for fixed weekly clinic days looking after our members. We have clinic days available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, each running 9am to 5pm. Continuity of care matters to us and to our patients, so we are looking for GPs able to commit to the same full day each week, with the option of additional regular days by agreement.

This is a self employed sessional engagement, remunerated at £637\.50 per full clinic day. You will need full GMC registration with a licence to practise, inclusion on the GMC GP Register, and your own professional indemnity insurance covering private General Practice.

The Role

You will undertake a combination of private GP consultations and comprehensive health assessments. The work is varied and includes acute and chronic presentations, preventative healthcare, interpretation of investigations, health screening, lifestyle and cardiovascular risk assessment, appropriate onward referral and follow up.

Our health assessment service is an important part of the clinic. We are particularly interested in doctors who enjoy looking beyond the presenting complaint and taking a broader view of a patient's current and future health. There is also scope to develop areas of particular clinical interest within the clinic, and we would be especially pleased to hear from GPs with established interests in women's health, menopause, men's health, musculoskeletal medicine or cardiovascular prevention.

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise and inclusion on the GMC GP Register, with no conditions or undertakings


• Your own professional indemnity insurance appropriate for private General Practice, including health screening work


• Significant experience working independently as a GP in the UK


• Ability to commit to the same full clinic day each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, 9am to 5pm) to support continuity of care


• Excellent consultation, communication and clinical decision making skills


• A meticulous approach to clinical documentation, investigation follow up and continuity of care


• A strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and professional responsibilities


• Confidence managing a broad range of General Practice presentations


• A warm, professional, patient centred manner, with the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a close and supportive clinical team

• 30 minute appointments as standard, with the quality of the consultation valued over volume


• A strong emphasis on preventative and personalised medicine


• A varied clinical workload with access to in house diagnostics and health assessment services


• A medical concierge team handling bookings, referrals and administration, so your day is spent on medicine


• Support from an established and collaborative clinic team
