Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Manager (Independent Prescriber) to oversee pharmacy operations within our healthcare facility. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, managing medication administration, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards. This position offers an opportunity to utilise your specialised knowledge in pharmacy practice, particularly within an ICU setting, and to lead a team committed to excellence in patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the pharmacy team to ensure efficient and safe medication dispensing and administration.
- Prescribe medications independently in accordance with legal and professional guidelines, ensuring optimal patient care.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors and nurses, to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Oversee medication inventory management, ensuring stock levels are maintained and expired medicines are disposed of appropriately.
- Provide expert advice on medication selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to any adverse reactions or medication\-related issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of prescriptions and patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in pharmacology, anatomy, and clinical practices relevant to ICU settings.
- Valid registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Proven experience working within an ICU environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable expertise in patient care, medication administration, and anatomy knowledge.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with healthcare professionals and patients alike.
- Ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
