Pathology Order Communications Specialist
Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) have Pathology Laboratories across three NHS Trusts; University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), George Eliot NHS Trust (GEH), and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT), offering services to 1\.8 million patients across the region.
CWPS are looking for two Pathology IT/Order Communications Specialists (13\-month fixed\-term) to lead on managing the Pathology testing and associated project work for the roll\-out of the new Cerner EPR Hospital system across GEH and SWFT. The EPR system is currently in use at UHCW which went live in 2024\.
You will have experience of leading in project delivery, implementations and development of systems, as well as the use, maintenance and development of Order Communication Systems in a Healthcare environment. You will be familiar with and have used NHS Pathology Laboratory Information Management Systems and Hospital Patient Management systems.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, being able to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues from a variety of professional and organisational backgrounds. You will be required to work with the GEH and SWFT programme teams, ICT teams, and the Cerner EPR programme and technical teams effectively.
You will primarily be based at the UHCW site but you may be required to occasionally travel to GEH and SWFT to meet with staff to support with the project.

Support the implementation of the Cerner EPR Hospital system at GEH and SWFT
Work with others to promote, train and embed Order Communications
Be the point of contact and represent CWPS in meetings and on projects relating to Order Communications, liaising with practices and Trusts, visiting sites when required to help facilitate, maintain and develop use of OCS.
Develop specialist knowledge of the implementation, maintenance and development of OCS in use throughout the areas served by the Pathology service.
Be the point of contact for supporting Pathology service users; troubleshooting and resolving issues with OCS, passing on or escalating problems to the appropriate manager, department, and/or OCS provider as required.

To provide timely investigation, troubleshooting and support to users of the Order Communications Systems within Primary and Secondary Care in Coventry and Warwickshire.
To support in communication to stakeholders including GP practices, Primary Care Networks (PCN) and Integrated Care Boards (ICB), and development of training materials for service users in the use of Order Communications. Ensuring clear precise documentation is available to assist others in proficient use of the systems, and in problem identification and solution.
To alert the team to issues and risks as they are identified in a timely manner and to engage in the development of plans to mitigate for risks and to solve issues
To work on projects related to OCS and on projects that improve paperless, electronic pathways and GIRFT, and/or improve partnership working, as directed by CWPS managers.
