Summary
We are looking for an experienced Part\-Time Company Accountant to take ownership of the company’s finance function using SAP Business One The role will focus on producing accurate monthly management accounts, managing large stock inventory within SAP, and providing meaningful financial insight to support the Managing Director.
This role is vital in managing our financial records, ensuring accuracy, and supporting our ongoing growth. Based in Coventry, you will contribute to maintaining our financial health and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting \& SAP Business One
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts directly from SAP Business One
- Ensure integrity of data within SAP, including correct posting and coding of transactions
- Perform month\-end close processes within SAP, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and key balance sheet items
- Generate financial reports and dashboards from SAP to support business decisions
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets to support strategic decision\-making.
- Oversee accounts payable processes ensuring timely payments.
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Assist with financial audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Support financial management activities including cash flow monitoring and expense control.
- Mentor junior staff or interns involved in finance\-related tasks.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Manage and maintain large inventory records within SAP Business One
- Ensure accurate stock valuation (FIFO/average cost as applicable)
- Investigate stock variances and discrepancies between physical and system stock
- Work closely with operations to ensure proper stock controls and processes are followed
- Produce regular inventory reports for the MD, highlighting risks, slow\-moving stock, and opportunities
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes using SAP data
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis
- Assist in improving cost control and stock efficiency
- Ensure financial processes in SAP comply with accounting standards and internal controls
- Maintain and improve financial procedures within the ERP system
- Support year\-end processes and liaise with external accountants/auditors
- Provide clear and concise financial reporting to the Managing Director
- Translate SAP data into meaningful business insights
- Deliver ad\-hoc reports and analysis as required
- Key Requirements
- Qualified or part\-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Strong hands\-on experience with SAP Business One is essential
- Proven experience in producing monthly management accounts
- Experience managing large and complex stock/inventory environments
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with ERP\-generated data
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem\-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a part\-time role
- Experience in wholesale, distribution, Engineering, or stock\-heavy environments
- Experience improving or optimising SAP Business One processes and reporting
- Knowledge of stock controls, costing methods, and inventory optimisation
