Role
We are looking for an experienced paralegal to join our busy commercial property team to provide administrative support to the commercial property team and to undertake, with supervision, a varied caseload of straightforward property related matters.
The team undertakes a substantial and often highly complex caseload of commercial property transactions and strategic projects for all Council departments and external clients. Much of this work goes beyond routine conveyancing and involves high-value, multi-party and legally challenging matters.
All staff in legal services are currently required to attend our offices in Stafford at least once a week or more frequently if there is a business need to do so.
Main Responsibility Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Providing full administrative and practical support to the commercial property team.
- Undertaking, with supervision, a varied caseload of straightforward property related matters.
- Adhering to the Legal Services Unit's LEXCEL quality standards.
- Handling confidential data sensitively and securely in accordance with policy.
- Such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Prior experience working in property law is preferrable but not essential. We are looking for a minimum of A-level or equivalent standard of education or extensive experience in a similar role, with:
- Strong organisational skills and a proficiency to record and monitor progress on existing excel spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to use own initiative
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
- Ability to run own case load via a case management system
- Local authority knowledge preferred but not essential.
- Strong I.T skills (including Microsoft Office)
