Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference?
We are seeking a bright, enthusiastic, and reliable Paediatric Support Worker to care for an amazing, playful young person with cerebral palsy.
A wheelchair user and is non\-verbal, communicating using a few words and expressions.
Care is always delivered on a 2:1 basis. You will always work alongside another support worker or a family member.
- Weekday Rate (Mon–Fri, 7am–11pm): £18\.00 per hour
- Weekend Rate (Sat–Sun, 7am–11pm): £20\.00 per hour
- Public Holiday Rate (England, 7am–11pm): £27\.00 per hour
- Waking Night Rate (Mon–Sun, 11pm–7am): £18\.00 per hour
- Sleeping Night Rate (Mon–Sun, 11pm–7am): £12\.71 per hour
- Supporting Holiday Rate
weekday split\-shift pattern, with occasional overtime:
- Morning Shift: Home care and school drop\-off.
- Mid\-day Break: Free time while the client is at school.
- Afternoon/Evening Shift: School collection, after\-school activities, meal preparation, and bedtime routine.
- Weekend/Night Cover: Opportunities to cover weekend team absences or night shifts as required. Weekend shifts focus on fun activities at home or community outings with the family.
- Personal Care: Assist with all aspects of personal care, dressing, and hygiene.
- Gastrostomy Care: Administer blended diet meals and medication via PEG tube.
- Mobility Support: Use hoisting equipment safely for every single transfer, always working as part of a two\-person team.
- Health Monitoring: Maintain a high regard for her health needs, recognizing and acting appropriately on any presenting health issues.
- Daily Transitions: Assist at home getting ready for school, complete the school drop\-off, and handle afternoon collection.
- Therapy \& Play: Participate actively in professional therapy sessions. Lead sensory play and age\-appropriate activities.
- Independence \& Choice: Use a flexible approach to encourage choice, maximize her independence, and ensure her safety.
- Experience in complex paediatric or physical care, ideally involving cerebral palsy or wheelchair users.
- Prior training or experience in using hoists for patient transfers.
- Experience with, or a willingness to be trained in, PEG feeding and PEG medication administration.
- A warm, playful, and patient personality suited to engaging a young person.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a 2:1 care team and collaborate with families.
- Excellent communication skills and an adaptable approach to non\-verbal communication.
- Clean driving licence (highly beneficial for school drops and pick\-ups).
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
