Oncology Breast Cancer Nurse Specialist
This is a permanent, full‑time Clinical Nurse Specialist post within the Breast Oncology service.
The postholder will provide specialist clinical expertise, patient education, toxicity monitoring and pathway coordination for individuals undergoing treatment for breast cancer. They will play a key role in ensuring timely assessment, safe initiation and ongoing management of cancer treatment , supporting adherence, early identification of side‑effects, and appropriate escalation.
Working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the CNS will contribute to high‑quality, patient‑centred care, improved pathway flow, and achievement of national cancer waiting time standards. This post strengthens the service’s capacity to meet increasing clinical demand and ensures continuity, safety and quality across the breast oncology pathway.
We want to provide a full holistic service to all our breast cancer patients that are having chemotherapy.
You will care and support patients through oncological treatment pathways and follow up to ensure the provision of safe, seamless, appropriate services, thus maximising the health and quality of life of the patient and carers and improving the quality and efficiency of health care delivery.
You will be instrumental in the setting up of the service and work with the existing breast care nurses.
Act as resource to wider cancer team and other tumour sites.
To work closely with services already in place for Oncology \& Palliative Care in providing holistic and age appropriate care.
To provide specialist training across functional boundaries as required

The postholder will provide specialist clinical expertise within the Breast Oncology service, supporting patients across systemic anticancer therapies, including targeted treatments. Core responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment coordination, toxicity monitoring, and provision of holistic care, alongside active participation in MDT processes to ensure safe, effective, and timely progression through the treatment pathway. The role will contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and overall patient experience within the breast oncology service.
