The Occupational Health Nurse Specialist will provide a comprehensive, high\-quality occupational health service to colleagues across University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and external clients. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assess fitness for work, undertake management referral consultations, provide evidence\-based occupational health advice, and support colleagues health, wellbeing and attendance at work.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a wide range of occupational health services, including health surveillance, immunisations, pre\-placement screening, health promotion and wellbeing initiatives. They will work collaboratively with managers, workforce, infection prevention and other stakeholders to support employees in maintaining health at work, facilitating rehabilitation and return to work, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards and best practice guidance.

Provide specialist occupational health advice on fitness for work, sickness absence, rehabilitation and workplace wellbeing.

Manage a caseload of employees with complex physical and mental health conditions.

Undertake occupational health assessments and provide evidence\-based management recommendations.

Assess health conditions against the Equality Act 2010 and advise on reasonable workplace adjustments.

Conduct pre\-placement health assessments and advise on fitness for employment.

Deliver health surveillance programmes and manage follow\-up of abnormal findings.

Plan and deliver immunisation and vaccination programmes.

Provide advice on communicable diseases, infection risks and occupational exposures.

Work collaboratively with managers, workforce, Infection Prevention and Control team, and external agencies.

Contribute to occupational health policies, procedures, audits and service development.

Support colleague wellbeing and health promotion initiatives.

Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in line with NMC and GDPR standards.

Support SEQOHS accreditation and continuous quality improvement.

Represent the Occupational Health Service at meetings and contribute to workforce health strategy.

We operate from three main hospitals\-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant\-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non\-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
