Manufacturing Engineer
Overview:
Expleo is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (IST4 level) to support industrial operations within a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on maintaining product design intent while optimising manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring production meets quality, safety, and performance standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in process design, time estimation, industrial performance improvement, and production readiness, working closely with cross\-functional teams across engineering, production, and supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the design intent and integrity of products assembled on the shop floor.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with operational performance targets.
- Determine and validate manufacturing times using appropriate methodologies (e.g. time studies, MTM, work sampling).
- Provide expertise in production/manufacturing processes, including:
+ Ergonomics
+ Capacity planning
+ Performance optimisation
- Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost, and quality.
- Support industrialisation activities for new and existing products.
- Ensure compliance with Health \& Safety, Quality, and environmental standards.
- Act as the Time Determination \& Ergonomics Specialist within assigned scope.
- Analyse and optimise manufacturing processes and workstation layouts.
- Implement improvements in:
+ Automated processes
+ PLC\-driven operations
- Contribute to new production line design and industrial scenarios, ensuring alignment with:
+ Quality
+ Lead time
+ Productivity targets
- Support SIM2 / operational performance routines, identifying and removing production barriers.
- Manage capacity vs workload balancing using industrial engineering tools.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Perform qualification of tools, processes, and equipment, both internally and at supplier sites.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on process validation and improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in:
+ Industrial Engineering
+ Mechanical Engineering
+ Production Engineering
- Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred)
- Additional certifications (desirable):
+ Ergonomics / Human Factors
Essential skills:
- Industrial Engineering / Simulation Tools:
+ CAMA
+ CORIM
+ Bridge or equivalent tools
- Manufacturing Systems:
+ MES systems
+ Automation \& Control:
+ PLC basics (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley)
- Data \& Analysis:
+ Power BI (desirable)
- Engineering Tools:
+ Continuous Improvement:
+ Lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED)
Desired skills:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial engineering principles
- Lean manufacturing practices
- Capacity planning and line balancing
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and production requirements
- Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and compliance
- Experience of Manufacturing Processes and standards
- Several years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
- Aerospace \& Defence experience preferable but Marine \& Automotive will be considered
- Proactive Team Player with a focus on delivery and quality
- Good communicator who is professional during interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working in cross\-functional and production environments
- Experience with:
