Managing Quantity Surveyor (M\&E)

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000

Location: Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland

About the Role

Construo Recruitment is working with a leading M\&E engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major mechanical, electrical, and building services projects across the UK and Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven senior professional to take a leadership role within a growing business, overseeing multiple M\&E projects while managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in commercial strategy, project profitability, contractual management, and long\-term business growth across a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, healthcare, and education projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of multiple M\&E projects from tender through to final account


• Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to Quantity Surveying teams


• Oversee cost planning, forecasting, value engineering, and risk management activities


• Prepare, negotiate, and agree valuations, variations, and contractual claims


• Manage subcontractor procurement, assessments, and payment processes


• Produce accurate commercial reports, forecasts, and margin analysis for senior leadership


• Work closely with operational, engineering, procurement, and finance teams


• Ensure compliance with NEC, JCT, contractual, legal, and health \& safety requirements


• Support the continuous improvement of commercial systems and processes


• Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development initiatives

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline


• Minimum 7 years’ experience within an M\&E or building services commercial environment


• Previous experience leading or mentoring QS teams


• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge including NEC and JCT contracts


• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills


• Ability to manage fast\-paced technical projects and multiple priorities


• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence at senior level


• Proactive, organised, and commercially focused approach

• Salary of £70,000 – £80,000
