Registered Manager – Children's Residential Care

We provide support for young people aged 7 to 17 who may have experienced trauma, adversity and disruption in their lives. As a result, some young people may present behaviours that require patience, resilience, strong leadership and a therapeutic approach.
About the Role
As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management and development of the home. You will be responsible for ensuring the home operates in full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards, whilst creating a positive culture that delivers outstanding outcomes for young people.
You will lead and develop a dedicated staff team, promote therapeutic practices and ensure the home consistently provides a safe, nurturing and aspirational environment for young people.
Driving Requirement
All managers must be willing and able to drive company vehicles and support operational requirements when necessary. A full UK manual driving licence is therefore essential.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Holding registration with the relevant regulatory body and ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Providing effective leadership and management of the home and staff team.
- Creating and maintaining a positive, child\-centred and therapeutic culture throughout the home.
- Ensuring safeguarding remains the highest priority and that all concerns are managed appropriately.
- Promoting positive outcomes for young people across education, health, emotional wellbeing, independence and family relationships.
- Recruiting, developing and retaining high\-quality staff.
- Conducting supervision, performance management and appraisal processes.
- Ensuring staff receive appropriate training, guidance and support.
- Managing referrals, admissions and transitions into and out of the home.
- Developing risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and families.
- Managing budgets and ensuring the effective use of resources.
- Completing audits, quality assurance activities and action plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Preparing for and responding to regulatory inspections.
- Ensuring all records, reports and documentation are completed to a high standard.
- Promoting a culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement.
Essential:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to complete within agreed timescales.
- Significant experience within children's residential care.
- Previous experience in a management or senior leadership role within a residential childcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager.
- Proven track record of achieving positive inspection outcomes.
- Experience of opening, developing or improving children's residential services.
