We’re looking for a passionate Manager – Group Technical Accounting to join our Technical Accounting and External Reporting team.
In this role, you’ll bring your strong IFRS knowledge and experience of complex accounting transactions to provide expert guidance to stakeholders across the Group. You’ll play a key part in delivering National Grid plc’s half\-year results, Annual Report and Accounts (ARA), and 20\-F, alongside preparing and reviewing disclosures, supporting SOX documentation and control evidence, and contributing to month\-end reporting and statutory accounts for head office companies.
This role is based in our London office (The Strand), with hybrid working (typically three days in the office). We’re also happy to discuss any additional flexibility to help you succeed in the role.
What You’ll Do:
- Draft technical accounting papers and work through the resolution of papers with our Auditors.
- Provide technical accounting advice for large and complex internal and external transactions.
- Consider new IFRS guidance as it is issued and help to lead projects to implement new accounting standards (IFRS 18 and IFRS 20\), as well as develop existing accounting policies and communicate these changes to accounting teams across the Group.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders across the business units and assist in organising our annual Financial Reporting Summit where we invite all stakeholders to continue their professional development.
- Produce disclosures and operate key SOX controls for the half year results statement and year\-end annual report and accounts.
- Participate as part of a small team who run the month\-end Group consolidation, working with subsidiary teams and the Group Financial Planning and Analysis team.
- Post monthly consolidation and elimination journals and review the output of month\-end reports and validation checks.
- Provide support on the preparation of the head office subsidiary accounts, including being up to date on required disclosures.
What You’ll Have:
- A Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 2 years of post\-qualification experience.
- Preferably, candidates should have experience in a technical role within financial reporting or demonstrate a proven track record of technical expertise gained in an audit firm.
- Strong IFRS knowledge.
- Self\-starter with excellent research skills and a solid understanding of core financial processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and collaboration skills.
- A proactive and adaptable approach with a strong drive for results.
What You'll Get:
A competitive salary of up to £85,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 15% (with a maximum of 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
