Management Accountant

Salary: £40,000–£50,000

Location: Bolton

Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times

What will you be doing?

This is a broad, hands-on role responsible for producing accurate and meaningful financial information to support the continued growth of the business.

You will work closely with the Director and wider leadership team, helping them understand the numbers and make informed commercial decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing monthly management accounts


• Preparing budgets, forecasts and cashflow reports


• Reviewing financial performance and investigating variances


• Providing clear financial information and commercial insight to senior stakeholders


• Supporting cost control, profitability and margin analysis


• Managing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments


• Supporting year-end accounts and liaising with external auditors


• Monitoring and improving financial processes and controls


• Working with colleagues across the business to identify areas for improvement


• Supporting the finance function with transactional and reporting requirements when needed


• Helping the business manage a high volume of financial transactions accurately and efficiently

There is no staff supervision within this position. It would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, getting into the detail and building strong relationships across a growing business.

What would make you a good fit?

You may be fully qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience. What matters most is your practical management accounting experience and ability to communicate financial information clearly.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar hands-on finance role


• Experience producing monthly management accounts


• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cashflow experience


• A commercial approach with the confidence to question and challenge when appropriate


• Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with and interpret financial data


• Experience using Xero or Sage would be advantageous


• Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another high-volume environment would be useful, but is not essential


• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues
