About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and multi\-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our technical facilities team in Slough, Berkshire. In this hands\-on site position, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a portfolio of modern commercial offices, industrial units, and high\-specification facility assets on the Slough Trading Estate and surrounding areas.
You will ensure all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with current health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Execute scheduled maintenance routines across commercial HVAC units, electrical distribution systems, emergency lighting, fire alarms, boilers, pumps, and water hygiene systems.
- Reactive Repairs \& Fault Diagnosis: Respond promptly to system failures, technical breakdowns, and building tenant requests, diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical faults to restore operational performance.
- Compliance \& Record Keeping: Maintain accurate digital maintenance logs, statutory compliance records (L8 Legionella, BS 7671 electrical, fire safety), and work order sign\-offs within our CAFM system.
- Subcontractor Management: Escort, supervise, and review work carried out by specialist external sub\-contractors (e.g., chillers, lift maintenance, high\-voltage systems).
- Energy \& Operations Optimization: Inspect plant rooms daily, monitor Building Management Systems (BMS), and identify energy efficiency improvements.
- Health \& Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance operations adhere strictly to RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), COSHH, permit\-to\-work systems, and site safety protocols.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, or Facilities Engineer within commercial property, industrial, or critical engineering environments.
- Technical Qualifications:
- City \& Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671\) certification required.
- F\-Gas certification or L8 Water Hygiene awareness preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC, single \& 3\-phase electrical systems, BMS controls, plumbing, and plant room mechanics.
- Driving License: Full UK driving license required.
- Location: Must live within a reliable commute of Slough, Berkshire (SL1 postcode area) to participate in an out\-of\-hours call\-out rota.
