Legal Assistant - Conveyancing

Experienced Legal Assistant sought to join the Residential Property team of a well-regarded and established law firm in South Devon.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conveyancing Legal Assistant who has a good understanding of the residential conveyancing process from instruction through to post-completion and is looking to join a friendly, supportive and collaborative team.
Position Overview
Working closely with the firm's Residential Property lawyers, you will provide comprehensive support across a busy conveyancing caseload and assist with transactions throughout the conveyancing process.
Responsibilities will include:
- Dealing with new client instructions and initial enquiries
- Preparing estimates and client care documentation
- Assisting with client onboarding, including source of funds requirements
- Preparing and issuing contract packs
- Obtaining property searches
- Liaising regularly with clients by telephone and email
- Supporting matters through exchange of contracts
- Preparing completion statements
- Assisting with completions, including obtaining mortgage funds and sending completion monies
- Handling post-completion administration
- Preparing and submitting SDLT returns
- Dealing with Land Registry applications and registrations
- Maintaining accurate files and progressing matters efficiently
- Working closely with fee earners and the wider Residential Property team
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Legal Assistant within Residential Conveyancing
- Good understanding of the conveyancing process from initial instruction through to completion and post-completion
- Experience with client onboarding and source of funds requirements
- Experience preparing contract packs, searches and completion statements
- Knowledge of SDLT and Land Registry/post-completion procedures
- Excellent client care and interpersonal skills
- Confident communicating with clients by telephone and email
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise effectively within a busy environment
- Good IT skills and confidence using case management systems
