Junior Operations Manager

We are the UK and Ireland’s leading commercial refrigeration \& catering equipment rental company providing commercial assets on long term and bespoke Equipment as a Service contracts, as an alternative to the Capex model, to leading retailers and the hospitality sector, as well as supporting short\-term requirements for events, exhibitions, and seasonal retail requirements.
Role Objective
To support the safe, efficient, and customer\-focused operation of the business by assisting with logistics, fleet coordination, warehouse activity, stock control, team support, and continuous improvement while developing into a strong operational leader.
The Junior Operations Manager will support the day\-to\-day running of the operations function, assisting with logistics, fleet coordination, warehouse activity, stock control, customer service, health and safety compliance, and team performance.
This role is suited to a motivated and organised individual who is developing their operational leadership skills and is ready to take responsibility for supporting supervisors, coordinating resources, improving service delivery, and helping the business meet its operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
· Support the Operations Director in coordinating daily operational activities.
· Help ensure operational objectives, service standards, and customer commitments are achieved.
· Monitor daily operational performance and escalate issues where required.
· Assist with improving operational processes, procedures, and workflows.
· Provide operational support for business improvement initiatives and growth plans.
Logistics \& Transport Management
· Assist with transport scheduling, route planning, and delivery coordination.
· Support the completion of customer deliveries and collections in line with agreed service levels.
· Help maximise vehicle utilisation and daily operational productivity.
· Track transport performance, delivery issues, and service delivery updates.
· Coordinate with operational teams to support changing customer and business requirements.
Warehouse \& Stock Control
· Support warehouse operations including goods inward, goods outward, stock movements, and inventory control.
· Ensure stock accuracy through regular audits and controls.
· Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation.
· Monitor asset utilisation and inventory availability.
· Implement procedures to reduce loss and improve accountability.
Team Leadership
· Support, guide, and motivate operational team members in their daily duties.
· Assist with team briefings, task allocation, and performance follow\-up.
· Support workforce planning, attendance monitoring, and daily scheduling.
· Identify training and development opportunities.
· Foster a positive, accountable, and customer\-focused culture.
Customer Service
· Support consistent delivery of a high standard of customer service.
· Assist with resolving operational and customer service queries in a timely manner.
· Work closely with sales and customer service teams to meet customer requirements.
· Maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
· Drive service improvements through customer feedback and operational reviews.
Health, Safety \& Compliance
· Support a strong health and safety culture across daily operations.
· Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and company policies.
· Conduct audits, inspections, and workplace reviews.
· Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
· Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
Financial Management
· Support budget awareness and day\-to\-day control of operational expenditure.
· Monitor labour, fleet, warehouse, and operating costs.
· Identify and implement cost\-saving initiatives.
· Support forecasting, planning, and performance reporting.
· Contribute to achieving business profitability targets.
Continuous Improvement
· Support operational improvement projects and process reviews.
· Analyse performance data and operational trends.
· Implement best\-practice processes and standard operating procedures.
· Drive productivity, efficiency, and quality improvements.
· Support the implementation of operational systems and technology.
Skills \& Experience
Essential
· 1\-3 years' experience in an operations, logistics, warehouse, fleet, customer service, or supervisory role.
· Some experience supporting or supervising teams in a fast\-paced operational environment.
· Understanding of logistics, fleet, warehouse, stock control, or service operations.
· Excellent organisational and planning skills.
· Strong problem\-solving and decision\-making ability.
· Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational systems.
Desirable
· Experience within logistics, equipment rental, distribution, warehousing, facilities management, or service industries.
· IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health \& Safety qualification.
· Exposure to fleet management software, telematics systems, or transport planning tools.
· Continuous improvement or Lean process improvement experience.
