IT Systems Manager
Job Summary
UK Defence Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly capable IT Systems Manager to manage and develop the technology systems supporting our multi\-site security and facilities operations.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the reliability, security and continuous improvement of our IT environment. This includes workforce\-management and rostering systems, time\-and\-attendance solutions, incident\-reporting platforms, CRM and client\-reporting systems, business email, cloud storage, company devices and user\-access controls.
The role requires a combination of technical knowledge, supplier management, strategic planning and the ability to communicate effectively with employees, clients and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the company’s IT systems, infrastructure and digital services.
- Oversee workforce\-management, employee rostering, time\-and\-attendance and incident\-reporting systems.
- Manage CRM, client\-reporting and other operational business platforms.
- Administer business email, cloud storage, company devices, software licences and user\-access permissions.
- Lead the selection, procurement, configuration, integration and implementation of new IT systems.
- Plan and manage system upgrades, migrations and technology\-improvement projects.
- Manage relationships with software providers, external IT contractors and technology suppliers, including service\-level performance.
- Monitor system availability and performance, investigate technical incidents and coordinate effective resolutions.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity controls, data\-access procedures, system backups, disaster\-recovery arrangements and business\-continuity plans.
- Support compliance with UK GDPR and company data\-protection policies through appropriate technical controls.
- Maintain accurate IT asset, software\-licence, system\-access and incident records.
- Develop IT policies, procedures and staff guidance.
- Provide technical advice and training to employees to promote the secure and effective use of company systems.
- Prepare and manage the IT budget and recommend cost\-effective technology investments.
- Develop the company’s technology roadmap in line with its operational requirements and future growth.
- Report system performance, security risks, incidents and improvement plans to the Managing Director.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in information technology, computer science, information systems or a related subject, or substantial equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience managing business IT systems, digital infrastructure or IT service delivery.
- Strong understanding of cloud\-based systems, user\-access management, system integration, data security, backups and disaster recovery.
- Experience managing software providers, external IT contractors or technology suppliers.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, UK GDPR requirements and IT risk management.
- Experience planning and delivering system implementations, upgrades or migration projects.
- Strong analytical and problem\-solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational and project\-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to non\-technical colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive company, client and employee information.
- Previous experience working within the security, facilities\-management or workforce\-services industry.
- Understanding of SIA\-regulated security operations, including officer scheduling, compliance records, time and attendance, incident reporting and client reporting.
- Experience managing workforce\-management, rostering, CRM or operational reporting systems within a multi\-site organisation.
- Familiarity with the information\-security and confidentiality requirements associated with employee, client and security\-operational data.
