International Regulatory Advisor

We are currently recruiting for an International Regulatory Advisor to join our team based in Stratford\-upon\-Avon. This is a permanent hybrid role, requiring two days per week in the office.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to gain valuable experience in a research, advisory and coordination role, acquire knowledge of global EPR and compliance as it progresses across the world, whilst supporting the wider Valpak team to correctly advise our customers.

The International Regulatory Advisor will assist in the management and delivery of the PPWR Advisory and PPWR Packaging Portfolio Assessment services. They will also coordinate the production of the EPR obligation report service and lead research projects to expand our knowledge base. The International Regulatory Advisor will also play a central role in proactively researching new legislative areas.### Key Responsibilities

Manage and deliver PPWR Advisory and Packaging Portfolio Assessment (PPA) services* Create and update the templated impact assessment for international clients

• Coordinate regulatory updates from country experts/SPOCs to include in the PPWR resources


• Provide excellent customer service through account management of a portfolio of PPWR advisory and PPA service customers.


• As part of the PPWR account management aspect, conduct additional research where needed for customer queries and host regular meetings with clients to discuss regulatory updates and their satisfaction with the service


• Utilise feedback to continuously improve the service


• Collate updates related to PPWR into a mailing format to be distributed to clients

Assist with the delivery of the obligation report service* Effectively communicate and coordinate the team to create obligation reports for customers

• Assist with the creation of the automated reports


• Lead and oversee obligation reports across the team

Become an expert in how extended producer responsibility (EPR) and compliance regulations affect companies retailing overseas* Develop and maintain a good understanding of international waste regulations and how they affect companies that sell overseas

• Advise customers on their obligations under regulations, utilising legislation and scheme technical guidance to inform this advice


• Be a Special Point of Contact (SPOC) for a European country

Contribute to the continuous improvement of services and development* Act as a central point of contact for research within Valpak’s global compliance team

• Coordinate research across the different Valpak teams


• Provide feedback on new processes and assist with any changes required

Support International Account Managers with required technical guidance* Respond to ad hoc requests from International Account Managers, to confirm technical guidance as requested by customers

• Attend ad hoc calls to support International Account Managers with technical PPWR and EPR queries

Proactively research new legislative areas* New types of EPR and compliance legislation can emerge at any time, the Researcher must be proactive in seeking out new information to ensure Valpak can remain abreast of any new changes

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Passionate and knowledgeable on environmental issues and related policy matters


• Ideally a background / experience in research and report writing


• Able to use initiative to work well independently or with others as required


• Must have a good telephone manner and be comfortable in dealing with external clients/schemes/authorities
