- Location – Stratford\-upon\-Avon, Warwickshire with hybrid working depending on business needs
- Criteria – You’ll need at least a 2:1 degree in any subject. A numerate or analytical subject may be helpful, but it isn’t essential.
Finance at NFU Mutual is about more than number crunching. It plays an important role in maintaining our financial strength, helping customers reach their savings and investment goals, and supporting the business to make informed decisions.
Our Finance Graduate Scheme is designed to help shape future finance leaders who can make a real impact. Over three years, you’ll gain hands\-on experience through two 18\-month placements in key areas of Finance, including:
Financial Planning \& Analysis (FP\&A)
This team helps the business understand financial performance and make good decisions.
You’ll gain experience in areas such as:
- sales and claims performance
- strategic planning
- reporting to senior leaders
This team manages financial and regulatory reporting across the Group. It also helps maintain strong financial controls and good practice. During this placement, you’ll:
- build technical knowledge in statutory and regulatory reporting
- work with teams across the business and external auditors
- learn how reporting, data management and technology support finance decisions
- work alongside our specialist Data and Tech team
This team manages transactions, budgeting and financial reporting for all NFU Mutual properties. You’ll gain experience in:
- statutory reporting
- Budgeting and financial planning
- working closely with the wider Properties Team

What you can expect

Over the three\-year scheme, you’ll rotate across different Finance teams and build a broad understanding of how Finance supports NFU Mutual, including:
- Joining a supportive team from day one, where you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, share ideas and build your confidence.
- Learning how Finance helps drive the business, from managing risk and analysing performance to supporting strategic decisions.
- Working with different areas of the business, using financial insight to support key decisions and help shape future plans.
- Developing your technical finance skills through hands\-on experience across different teams and projects.
- Building leadership skills that will help you grow into a future finance role.
- Working towards your CIMA or ACCA qualification, with support throughout the scheme to help you achieve your career goals.
We’ll support your career development throughout the scheme with a structured plan, performance reviews twice a year, and the potential for competitive salary increases and progression. Join us and by the end of the scheme, you’ll have built the knowledge, confidence and experience to help the business make informed financial decisions.
Application Process
If your application is shortlisted, there are three stages:
- Online assessment – to help us understand how you learn and solve problems.
- Video interview – a short interview to learn more about you.
- Assessment centre – an in\-person day where you’ll take part in activities such as a group exercise, a role\-specific task and a skills\-based interview.
Your future
This scheme is designed to help you build your core finance skills, and work towards recognised qualifications. We’ll support you to gain the knowledge and experience you need for a successful career.
You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues, a dedicated buddy and a mentor who will help you maximise your development and career opportunities. You’ll also be part of a strong graduate community, with opportunities to connect with current and former graduates, build your network and learn from others on similar schemes.
As you come towards the end of the scheme, a careers coach will help you think about your next role and plan your next steps.
It’s not all about work either. We encourage our graduates to get involved in extracurricular activities, from volunteering and organising charity or social events to representing NFU Mutual at industry events, all in line with our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.
What we're looking for

Qualifications and skills
You'll need to have achieved, or be on track for, at least a 2:1 degree. While your degree doesn’t need to be in a specific subject, we do prefer candidates with a strong numerical or analytical focus in their studies.
More importantly, we’re looking for individuals with a passion for learning, curiosity, and the potential to grow.
To help you succeed on the scheme, you’ll bring:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills – working confidently with numbers and information.
- Communication and relationship\-building skills – sharing information clearly and building strong working relationships.
- Digital literacy, particularly Excel – using spreadsheets and tools to organise and analyse data.
- Time management and organisational skills – planning your work and managing deadlines.
- Initiative and self\-management skills – taking ownership and looking for ways to learn and improve.
- Problem\-solving skills – thinking practically and finding a way forward when tasks are complex.
Work experience
Industry experience or a placement year within Financial Services or accountancy would be a real advantage, but it isn’t essential. What matters most is that you’ve had some experience of work where you’ve been able to interact with people, build your communication skills and learn how to work well with others.
