Internal Customer Account Manager
Customer Account Manager
About the role
At WM101, we’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Customer Account Manager to join our growing team.
This is a varied role where you’ll be responsible for managing and developing relationships with our customers, making sure they receive a consistently high level of service while also identifying opportunities to improve their waste management solutions.
You’ll become a trusted point of contact for your customers, working closely with our internal team, waste contractors and suppliers to resolve issues, review services and make sure everything is working as it should.
We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience within the waste management industry, although this isn’t essential. What matters most is that you understand how to build strong customer relationships, communicate confidently, solve problems and have a genuine desire to learn about the waste industry.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing a portfolio of WM101 customers and developing strong, long\-term relationships.
- Acting as a key point of contact for customers, understanding their requirements and making sure their waste services are running effectively.
- Handling customer queries and issues from start to finish, working with our operational team and waste contractors to find practical solutions.
- Regularly reviewing customer accounts to identify opportunities to improve service, reduce costs, increase recycling and improve overall waste management.
- Using our internal software and other business systems to manage customer information, monitor services, review collections and keep records up to date.
- Analysing customer and service information to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
- Preparing and carrying out customer reviews, providing clear and useful information on their waste services and performance.
- Identifying opportunities for additional services and supporting the wider sales team with account development and new business opportunities.
- Working closely with our suppliers and collection partners to ensure services are delivered correctly and issues are resolved quickly.
- Keeping customers informed and providing clear, professional communication at all times.
- Supporting the wider WM101 team with ongoing improvements to customer service, processes and the way we manage our accounts.
We’re looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and genuinely enjoys working with customers.
Ideally, you will have experience in waste management, recycling or environmental services, but we are also happy to consider candidates from other industries where you have strong customer service, account management or B2B experience.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in customer account management, customer service, sales or a similar role.
- Experience of working with business customers and managing ongoing relationships.
- An interest in, or knowledge of, the waste management and recycling industry — waste experience is desirable but not essential.
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to spot opportunities to improve a customer's service.
- Strong problem\-solving skills and a practical approach to resolving issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good IT skills and confidence using software systems to manage information, accounts and customer activity.
- The ability to analyse information and use it to make sensible recommendations.
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple customers and priorities.
- A positive, proactive attitude and the confidence to take ownership of issues rather than simply passing them on.
- A genuine focus on delivering great customer service.
WM101 is an established, growing waste management business with a strong focus on customer service and finding practical solutions for our customers.
We work with businesses across the uk in a wide range of sectors and no two customers are the same. This means the role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your knowledge across the waste and recycling industry.
You’ll be joining a friendly, hands\-on team where your ideas and experience will be valued, and where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to both our customers and the wider business.
If you’re looking for a role where you can build relationships, solve problems, develop your commercial skills and become a genuine expert in waste management, we’d love to hear from you.
