Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is one of the largest Local Authorities in Wales and our vision is for it to be a place where *“All people, communities, and businesses can grow and live in a healthy, green, safe, vibrant, and inclusive County* *Borough where they can achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives and work, both now and in* *the future.”* (Corporate Plan 2024–2030\).
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is seeking an experienced and driven Integrated Transport Manager to lead the Integrated Transport Unit in its delivery of Schools, Community Care, and Public Transport services.
This is a senior management role with responsibility for managing and developing a high performing team, requiring the successful delivery of a lean and integrated transportation service which is focussed on the delivery of a safe, efficient and effective range of passenger transport services to a broad range of clients, within clear and effective cost control.
You will be a confident leader with responsibility for delivering high quality innovative services that meet the objectives of the Council’s Corporate Plan and contribute to reducing the Council's carbon footprint. We are looking for someone who is forward‑thinking, resilient and committed to continuous improvement, with the ability to balance strategic leadership with the demands of a busy operational environment.
You will work closely with Elected Members, Senior Officers, partners and stakeholders, providing expert advice and ensuring the service responds effectively to changing needs, legislative requirements and community expectations.
The permanent full\-time position is based at Ty Glantaf, Treforest, Pontypridd, benefiting from parking and excellent sustainable transport links to Cardiff and the surrounding area. However, the role is hybrid, allowing the opportunity to work from both the office and from home as required, which is to continue in the long term.
Employment hours are 37 hours a week under the flexible working hours scheme, with 26 days annual leave (rising to 31 days after 5 years of Local Authority continued service), and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and staff benefits scheme.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Geraint Roberts, Head of Integrated Transport, on 07825 424679\.
Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.
The Council values diversity in its workforce. We are committed to ensuring that no unlawful discrimination occurs in the recruitment and selection process on the grounds of age, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, transgender, including those with non\-binary identities, religion or belief or pregnancy and maternity. We offer a number of staff networks for employees including the Allies Network, a Disability and Carers Network and Perthyn our LGBTQ\+ Network.
An application submitted for this post in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.
As part of the Council’s longer term objectives in relation to the Welsh language and its Workforce Planning Strategy, it is committed to a guaranteed interview scheme for Welsh\-speakers of Level 3 and above. If you meet the essential criteria as identified in the person specification for the job and are a Welsh\-speaker of Level 3 and above, you will be invited to interview if you choose to participate in the scheme.
In view of the large number of Application Forms which are currently being submitted individual applications are not acknowledged. Consequently if you do not hear from us within four weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application is unsuccessful on this occasion. In which case you are thanked for the interest you have shown in applying for a position within the Council.
In support of the Council’s voluntary pledge to support the Armed Forces, the recruiter must always be prepared to ensure that applicants who have identified themselves as members of the Armed Forces including Service Leavers, Veterans or Reservists and who meet the essential criteria of the person specification, are offered an interview.
Care Experienced Leavers – Guaranteed Interview Scheme
As part of the Council’s corporate parenting role it is committed to supporting its care experienced leavers. This means anyone who has spent time within the care system at any point in their life. We encourage applications from individuals who are care experienced to enable them to access employment, education, experiences and volunteering opportunities.
The Council will guarantee an interview for any care experienced leavers who wish to take part in the scheme who meet the essential criteria for the role.
