The ICT Communications Officer sits within the Internal Communications team in the Communications Division and works closely with colleagues across ICT and the wider university to deliver communications that support service awareness, engagement and digital change.

About ICT

With over 300 colleagues and under the guidance of the Chief Information Officer, ICT manages a vast IT estate that spans student lifecycle systems, the digital campus, research computing, finance and HR platforms, data and analytics, and cybersecurity, while partnering across the university to drive digital transformation and excellent customer experience. ICT operates within a robust governance framework aligning technology strategy, product roadmaps, and service performance with institutional priorities.

What you would be doing
---------------------------

In this role, you will support the delivery of integrated communications and engagement activity across ICT, helping colleagues and students understand and engage with important digital services, projects and change initiatives.

  • translate complex technical information into clear, accessible and compelling content for a range of audiences

  • create and commission content in a variety of formats, including copy, presentations, video and digital or print assets

  • support and maintain key ICT communications channels, including webpages, SharePoint and ICT’s subscription e\-newsletter

  • work with ICT teams and wider stakeholders to plan targeted communications and engagement activity

  • provide communications advice on messaging, planning, channels and best practice

  • support events and promotional activity aligned to ICT’s strategic goals

  • monitor engagement and feedback to help improve communications effectiveness and audience experience

  • contribute to communications for key ICT initiatives linked to Imperial’s wider Digital Plan
This role would suit someone who is comfortable drafting a web update, shaping a campaign, supporting an event and working closely with stakeholders to bring technical stories to life.

What we are looking for

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • confidence in building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

  • experience of developing content across multiple channels, including digital platforms

  • the ability to interpret complex or technical information and turn it into engaging, audience\-focused communications

  • good judgement, discretion and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications

It would also be beneficial if you have experience of content management systems, design and artwork processes, or communications in a university or public sector setting.
