Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled I.T Project Field Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing on\-site technical support for a variety of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless deployment and maintenance of systems across multiple client locations. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in cloud platforms, virtualization, operating systems, and scripting, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast\-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that utilise cutting\-edge technologies such as AWS, VMware, Azure, Linux, and more.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend customer sites to deliver IT project installations, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot a range of IT hardware and software solutions.
- Perform Point of Sale (POS) deployments, upgrades, replacements, and testing.
- Carry out equipment decommissioning, asset recovery, and disposal processes in accordance with company procedures.
- Reconfigure existing IT infrastructure and end\-user equipment to support project requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and provide accurate reporting on installation progress and any issues encountered.
- Ensure all work is completed to agreed project timelines, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues during project delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, asset movements, and project documentation.
- Liaise professionally with customers, project managers, service desks, and technical teams.
- Manage company equipment, tools, and vehicle responsibly while travelling between customer locations.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies, site regulations, and security procedures.
- Provide post\-installation support and handover documentation where required.
- Participate in occasional out\-of\-hours, overnight, or weekend work to support project schedules.
- Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Previous experience in an IT Field Engineer, Deployment Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar technical role.
- Strong hands\-on experience with hardware installations, upgrades, and break\-fix activities.
- Experience deploying and supporting POS systems within retail, hospitality, or commercial environments.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems, software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and wireless connectivity.
- Experience with IT equipment decommissioning, asset management, and equipment reconfiguration.
- Ability to follow technical documentation, installation guides, and project plans accurately.
- Excellent problem\-solving and fault\-finding skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads across multiple sites.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home when required.
- Full UK driving licence with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move IT equipment safely and work in a physically active field\-based environment.
- Relevant IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL, Cisco, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
