Job Summary
Ilford Grand Hotel is seeking an experienced and hands\-on Hotel Manager to lead the day\-to\-day operations of the hotel. This role requires a proactive leader who not only manages the hotel but is also an integral part of the reception team, including independently handling reception shifts.
In addition, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to support and maintain our wider serviced accommodation portfolio across multiple sites during the same shift, ensuring consistent standards and smooth operations throughout.
Key Responsibilities Operations \& Front Desk Leadership (Hands\-On Role)
- Oversee all daily hotel operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery
- Work as part of the reception team, including running shifts independently
- Lead from the front by setting the standard for customer service
- Manage reservations, cancellations, and OTA platforms (e.g., Booking.com, Expedia)
- Ensure accurate billing, payment processing, and financial controls
- Deliver and maintain exceptional customer service standards
- Handle escalated guest complaints and resolve issues promptly
- Maintain strong guest satisfaction scores and online reviews
- Provide concierge\-style support including local recommendations and arrangements
- Lead, train, and develop reception, housekeeping, and support staff
- Manage staff rotas while ensuring full reception coverage at all times
- Maintain discipline, accountability, and team performance
- Oversee hotel operations, inventory, and compliance
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance for room readiness
- Support and manage serviced accommodation units across multiple locations alongside colleagues during the same shift
- Monitor property standards, ensuring high levels of cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation across all sites
- Maximise occupancy and revenue through OTA platforms
- Implement pricing strategies, promotions, and growth initiatives
- Monitor KPIs including occupancy, revenue, and guest satisfaction
- Identify and implement operational improvements
- Proven experience as a Hotel Manager or senior hospitality role
- Comfortable working hands\-on at reception, including solo shifts
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple properties/sites simultaneously
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work in a fast\-paced, demanding environment
- Experience with hotel systems and OTA platforms
- Experience with channel managers or PMS systems such as Eviivo is highly desirable
- Flexible availability, including weekends
