Health, Safety and Environment Manager

Reporting to the Site Director, you’ll play a critical role in embedding a strong safety culture and ensuring full compliance across all HSE standards. You’ll balance strategic delivery and day\-to\-day operational control, driving initiatives that improve safety, sustainability, and overall site performance.
- Lead, coach and influence site leadership on all Health, Safety \& Environmental matters
- Develop and deliver site HSE strategy and improvement plans, aligned to group objectives
- Ensure full compliance with ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 / HSG65 and all relevant legislation
- Drive a proactive safety culture, ensuring standards are consistently applied and improved
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
- Monitor and analyse HSE performance data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
- Manage RIDDOR reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance activities
- Oversee risk assessments, COSHH, fire safety, and safe systems of work
- Lead environmental initiatives, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainability programmes
- Support delivery of customer CSR and sustainability targets
- Act as the key contact for external regulatory bodies (e.g. HSE, Environment Agency)
- Drive engagement through training, communication, and HSE committees
- Promote high standards of food safety and quality culture across the site
- Proven experience in a Health, Safety \& Environmental role within FMCG or food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and management systems (ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 / HSG65\)
- Experience leading audits, compliance, and continuous improvement programmes
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) – desirable
- IEMA membership – desirable
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into action
- Confident communicator, able to influence at all levels
- Proactive, resilient, and able to operate effectively in a fast\-paced environment
