Groundcare Service Engineer

As a Groundcare Service Engineer, you’ll keep professional turfcare and groundcare machinery working at its best. You’ll combine hands\-on mechanical work with modern diagnostics, supporting customers who depend on reliable equipment every day.

  • Depot: Perth (Perthshire), Macmerry (East Lothian) or Bishopton (Renfrewshire)

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. Overtime available.

  • Reports to: Groundcare Service Manager

  • Contract: Permanent

Hamilton Ross Group is one of the UK’s largest machinery dealerships. We have been trading since 1933, we are in our third generation of family ownership, and around 200 people work with us across nine depots in Scotland and the north of England. We represent major brands like Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Fendt, JCB, Wacker Neuson, Kubota, Honda, Stihl and Husqvarna.

The role

You’ll service, maintain and repair a wide range of professional groundcare and turfcare machinery in the workshop and, when required, at customer sites. You’ll diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults, carry out repairs and prepare machinery to manufacturer standards.

You’ll work with manufacturer diagnostic software and specialist tools, complete accurate job records and support customers and colleagues with technical advice when needed. The role suits an engineer who takes pride in high standards, works well independently and enjoys solving practical problems.

Requirements

What you’ll be doing


  • Service, maintain and repair professional groundcare and turfcare machinery

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults

  • Use manufacturer diagnostic software and specialist workshop tools

  • Prepare new and used machinery to manufacturer standard for customer delivery

  • Carry out machinery inspections and preventative maintenance work

  • Complete service documentation and job records accurately

  • Work safely and follow manufacturer procedures at all times

  • Provide practical technical support to customers and colleagues when required

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Experience in groundcare, turfcare, agricultural, plant, construction equipment, commercial vehicle or automotive engineering

  • Strong mechanical skills with the confidence to diagnose hydraulic and electrical faults

  • A practical, proactive approach to fault\-finding and problem\-solving

  • The ability to work independently, communicate well and deliver a high standard of customer service

  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable
  • Experience with professional groundcare equipment, golf course machinery or compact tractors

  • Experience using computer\-based diagnostic equipment

  • Knowledge of utility vehicles or robotic mowing technology
