As an Agricultural Service Engineer with Hamilton Ross Group, you’ll keep customers’ machinery working when they need it most. You’ll combine hands\-on engineering with modern diagnostic technology, working on leading agricultural machinery in a busy workshop environment. We’re recruiting at depots across Scotland and the north of England.
- Depot: Bishopton, Tarbolton, Campbeltown, Perth, Lanark, Cupar, Macmerry, Kelso or Berwick
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. Overtime available.
- Reports to: Agricultural Service Manager
- Contract: Permanent

Hamilton Ross Group is one of the UK’s largest machinery dealerships. We have been trading since 1933, we are in our third generation of family ownership, and around 200 people work with us across nine depots in Scotland and the north of England. We represent major brands like Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Fendt, JCB, Wacker Neuson, Kubota, Honda, Stihl and Husqvarna.
The role
You’ll service, maintain and repair agricultural machinery and equipment, diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults and completing repairs to manufacturer standards. You’ll use manufacturer diagnostic software and specialist tools to get to the cause of problems quickly and accurately.
You’ll also inspect machinery, prepare new and used equipment for customer delivery and keep service records up to date. You’ll work independently when needed while supporting the wider workshop team and maintaining the high standards of workmanship and customer service our customers expect.
Requirements
What you’ll be doing
- Service, maintain and repair agricultural machinery and equipment
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Use manufacturer diagnostic software and specialist workshop tools
- Complete machinery inspections and condition reports accurately
- Prepare new and used machinery to manufacturer standard for customer delivery
- Complete service records, job documentation and other paperwork accurately
- Work safely and efficiently in line with manufacturer and company procedures
- Support colleagues and contribute to a productive, customer\-focused workshop
What you’ll bring
Essential
- Experience in agricultural engineering, plant, construction equipment, HGV, commercial vehicle or a similar machinery sector
- Strong mechanical skills with the confidence to diagnose hydraulic and electrical faults
- The ability to work independently, organise your workload and solve practical problems
- A positive, professional approach with good communication and customer service skills
- A full UK driving licence
- Previous experience servicing and repairing agricultural machinery
- Experience using manufacturer computer\-based diagnostic equipment
- Relevant agricultural, land\-based or mechanical engineering qualifications
